Advanced Web Ranking and Link Manager – Software Review

Overview of Advanced Web Ranking

Advanced Web Ranking is a piece of highly useful SEO software that enables you to track a web site’s rankings in a very large list of search engines for a practically unlimited number of keywords or queries.

This software is very useful for your SEO jobs on your website or if you are an SEO company for your client’s websites as it gives you reports of exactly the affect your changes are having on your rankings. This includes a past history for the keywords that you are using, so you can see exactly what has changed for each keyword in each search engine, the ability to generate reports based on the results which can be given to clients with little work on your part, the ability to track your websites against your competitors and the ability to use schedules or triggers to run the reports meaning you can almost fully automate your SEO tracking.

All this combined into one program makes for a very powerful package and it has great customisation features and options as well as producing customised report and editable report formats to match your company’s style. The only real problem with this software is the interface is a bit clunky and hard to use when you are first getting used to the program. Some of the more advanced options are quite well hidden in the software but once you have found them they are fairly easy to set-up exactly how you like them. You can see a full list of it’s website ranking features here.

The program is updated regularly to get the latest updates on the search engines. Unfortunately the search engines do change how they work from time to time which stops Advanced Web Ranking from being able to get your results, however they normally manage to get a fix up for these fairly shortly afterwards so any break in your data should be for a minimal period of time. You can purchase this search engine ranking software from here.

Uses of Advanced Web Ranking

The best useage of this software is to see how well your website is performing on the search engines over all the keywords that are relevant to your site. Doing this can take quite a bit of time per website, simply because the software has to wait between each query so that it doesn’t upset the search engines. This can cause the search engines to block your internet connection for a while if you play with the settings (whoops!) without knowing what you are doing, however on the default setting this doesn’t happen.

Once you’ve run a report with all your keywords on it, you can see exactly which pages on the website are ranking where on each search engine. This will allow you to pick out the pages and keywords on your site that aren’t performing as well as you might have hoped, make changes and then track those changes to see what affect that has. Since SEO is always partially a guessing game, having one factor that you can pin down as having a certain affect on your site can be very useful to both your clients and yourself, this can improve both your SEO knowledge and your client’s opinion of you.

You can also use this software as part of your keyword research.  The software will tell the site’s keyword densities, a comparison between this site and the site’s past keywords as well as their ranking. This allows you to have an idea how much affect your changes have had on the ranking for your site and exactly how much you have increased or decreased any keyword densities on the site, as well as if they are above or below the normal recommended densities. You can see it’s usefulness as a keyword research tool here.

Using Advanced Web Ranking

You can easily make a project for each website or task that you need to accomplish and then add all the keywords that you want to rank on for that website, choose the search engines you want to rank on (normally the big 3 and the localised versions of them) and then click the start arrow and leave the software running. If you have a lot of keywords for a site this can take a little while however you can easily import keyword lists from text files, URLs or via Google Suggest or Wordtracker. This can save quite a bit of time if you are doing your keyword research using one or both of these systems anyway. You can also export the list of keywords for other programs to use if needed as well as set a priority for each keyword.

Once you’ve clicked go you just need to leave it running in the background or on a spare machine. It can take quite a while for it to run a scan on a lot of keywords, the more keywords you have and the more variations per search engine the longer this will take. A good example is our home website www.intunet.co.uk, when we do a report on this site for 28 keywords, using 3 variations of Google, Bing and Yahoo (the International, the UK and the UK version on UK only searches) it takes about 3 hours to complete, set to check up to the 10th page of the search engines results. A large portion of this time is simply waiting so that the search engines don’t think you are spamming them and block you rather than a problem with the program. Even on an older computer you can happily leave this program running away in the background and it won’t cause any noticeable slowing down of the computer.

Summary

A very nice piece of software, with a bit more work on the GUI it would be a fairly near perfect product and saves me a lot of work when I need to analyse the current placing of websites as well as when tracking a website. It’s a tool I would find difficult to be without as an SEO.

Advanced Link Manager

This is another piece of software by the same company which is very useful for tracking the links you have to your website. This can be combined with Advanced Web Ranking to provide a fuller view of your website. By tracking your links you can see when you lose links, when you have new links and possible places where you can gain more links. For the features for Advanced link manager, you can see it’s usefulness for link popularity research here.

As well as helping you to analyse your site, you can use this to find out where your competitors got their links from and get links from there yourself. You can also use this tool to find out if people are worth getting a link from, some sites just won’t do you any good if they link to you.To download the advanced link manager software click this link.

All in all a solid piece of software for helping with the SEO for your site.
